Director of Center/Group
Prof. GUO Zhen
Prof. GUO Zhen obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Materials Engineering from Florida International University in 2004, and then worked at the University of Connecticut and the Global Fuel Cell Center for three years. Since 2007, he has led product research and development in the fuel cell development department of Fujikura, Japan, and has promoted the commercialization of several fuel cell products. He has presided over a number of scientific research projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of America NSF and NEDO of Japan. He has obtained more than 40 patents in China, the United States, and Japan, and has published more than 10 papers. In 2021, he joined the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Processes, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as a senior engineer and doctoral supervisor, and was supported by the BR project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Research Interest
Research on development and application of Alcohol Fuel Cell Technology

Research Fields

Methanol fuel cell manufacturing technology, long life and stability research, and waste heat recovery and utilization technology.

Representative Research
Research began with the production and optimization of membrane electrodes (MEA), and the development and manufacture of large areas of carbon-black polymer composite bipolar plates and thin metal bipolar plates, optimizing the reactor design and stack assembly process. Successfully developed the stable and reliable, long-life fuel cells. Many new system design concepts are put forward, fuel cell system integration is completed, and system life test is completed.
