Green-chemo Catalysis Group
Introduction

Green-chemo Catalysis Group was active in green chemistry and catalysis. Some representative work have been published in leading journals including Green Chemistry, ChemSusChem, Organometallics, ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, etc. One new technology has been transformed into industrial application.

Director of Center/Group
Assoc. Prof. XU Guoqiang
Dr. XU Guoqiang obtained his Bachelor of Science degree and PhD in Chemistry from Shandong University in 2005 and 2010. From 2010 to 2011, he worked in Prof. Rhett Kempe's group at the University of Bayreuth in Germany as a post doctor. He joined QIBEBT in 2011. Currently he focused on the applied basic research in catalytic and chemical industry.
Research Interest
The group focused on the applied basic research in catalytic and chemical industry. Base chemicals in biomass and coal chemical industry, such as methanol, ethanol, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, methyl acetate and phenol, were used as raw materials and new material transformation pathways would be created based on the characteristics of molecular structure. High value oxygen containing compounds and important monomers would be generated, such as diol, paradioxybenzene, methyl methacrylate, methyl 3-hydroxybutyrate, etc. These research could improve shortcomings such as high cost, environmental pollution and complex process. The group strive to contribute to the major needs such as high quality development and ecological civilization construction.

Research Fields
Green chemistry, Catalysis.

Representative Research
1. Catalytic transformation of (bio)-alcohols into value added chemicals and monomers
2. Synthesis of improved biofuel
