Biomimetic Smart Materials Group
Introduction

Biomimetic Smart Materials Group was established in early 2014 by Prof. Li. At present, there are 17 researchers, including 9 staff, from the Swiss federal institute of technology in Zurich, Shanghai jiaotong university, Tianjin university, etc.The research interests include the bio-based materials (the self-assembly, biologic nanofibrils and low-dimensional bio-mineralization and composites), soft smart materials (actuating, sensing, smart wearable, health-related materials, liquid metal and 2D nanomaterials) and green lightweight materials (bio-based, foam, biodegradation and low-VOC). The researchers of the group have published more than 100 research papers on leading journals such as Nat. Nanotechnol., Nat. Commun. and Adv. Mater and undertaken more than 20 projects of national and provincial.

Director of Center/Group
Prof. LI Chaoxu
Prof. LI Chaoxu obtained his PhD in Polymer Chemistry and Physics from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science in 2004. From 2004 to 2013, he worked as postdoctoral researcher associate in Pohang University of Science and Technology, Fribourg University and ETH Zurich. From 2013-2014, He worked as a faculty member in Shanghai University. In Feb. 2014 he joined Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, CAS. He is currently a professor and the leader of Group of Biomimetic Smart Materials. He has published over 100 research papers on leading journals such as Nat. Nanotechnol., Nat. Commun. and Adv. Mater.
