The transition toward carbon neutrality and a carbon circular economy has made the development, conversion, and utilization of green carbon resources—including biomass, carbon dioxide, and recyclable rubber and plastics—central to the low-carbon upgrading of the chemical, materials, and energy systems. As China and Europe are highly complementary in green, low-carbon, and sustainable science and technology, deepening bilateral collaboration on green carbon science is both timely and necessary.

The China–Europe Workshop on Green Carbon Science Development and Popularization is organized under the bilateral cooperation program of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). It serves as a dedicated venue for China–Europe exchange spanning both science and technology and science popularization. This mission aligns with the Green Carbon Programme endorsed by the United Nations “International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development” (2024–2033), and builds an international platform for knowledge dissemination, academic exchange, and public understanding of green carbon science.

As a key academic partner of the workshop, the open-access journal Green Carbon (ISSN 2950-1555, indexed in ESCI with an IF of 14.2) will be deeply involved in both the scientific program and the workshop’s outreach activities. The journal will work with the organizing committee to engage invited experts and participants, invite them to contribute their cutting-edge work, and curate a dedicated special issue closely linked to the workshop’s core themes. This special issue will not only capture the workshop’s key scientific exchanges but also extend its impact through peer-reviewed publications. Contributions from workshop speakers and participants are particularly encouraged, and submissions from the wider green carbon research community are also welcome.

The workshop is expected to bring together 80-100 delegates and will focus on the conversion and utilization of green carbon resources. The program will be structured around two core themes: green biomanufacturing and green chemical catalysis. We cordially invite you to deliver an invited thematic talk that includes both your academic research and your initiatives and outcomes in science popularization and outreach. The organizing committee will provide conference materials and working lunches.

Registration

All oral presentation slots are now fully invited. From 30 September, 2026, general delegate registration will open for participants attending the workshop on 30 November and 1 December 2026.

Due to venue capacity, general delegate is limited to 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration fee is €500 per delegate, inclusive of conference materials and working lunches on site.

Please note that no on-site payment desk will be available, and all registration fees must be settled via bank transfer no later than 30 October 2026. To complete registration, please indicate your full name and affiliated organisation in the payment reference when transferring the fee, and send your name, professional title and working institution to the Organizing Committee via email. An official receipt will be issued by the Organizing Committee after the workshop.
