Lecture: Engineering Natural Product Biosynthesis for Health and Environmental Applications
Lecture: Engineering Natural Product Biosynthesis for Health and Environmental Applications
Lecturer: Prof. Blaine Pfeifer, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York
Time: 9:00am, Jan. 24, 2018, Wednesday
Location: 205 Meeting Room, Administrative building
Introduction of Lecturer:
Dr. Pfeifer is a Professor at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. He obtained his B.S. from Colorado State University followed by pre- and postdoctoral training at Stanford University and MIT. His current research themes are heterologous natural product biosynthesis and vaccine design and delivery with an emphasis on applications that span health and the environment.
Abstract:
This presentation will feature Escherichia coli in the heterologous production of complex natural products utilized across health and environmental applications. Each application is driven by the metabolic and process engineering tools afforded by E. coli.
