QIBEBT Attended the IEA Bioenergy Workshop

On October 17, 2022, the IEA Bioenergy ExCo Workshop “Technology advances in liquid biofuels and renewable gas” organized by International Energy Agency (IEA) Bioenergy Technology Collaboration Programme (TCP) in collaboration with the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and BEST – Bioenergy and Sustainable Technologies GmbH was held in Vienna, Austria. Professor LI Fuli, director of Molecular & Microbial Engineering Group in Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to contribute to the workshop online.

As the representative of QIBEBT, Professor LI Fuli delivered a keynote speech titled "What is needed to accelerate the deployment of advanced biofuels?" and carried on a constructive dialogue with the panellists in liquid biofuels. Focusing on the bioenergy, he introduced the current commercialization status and technical challenges in China, presented the reflection and exploration of energy revolution by QIBEBT, and delved deep into the measures of accelerating the deployment of advanced biofuels to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals as well as China’s Carbon Peak and Neutrality targets.

As a country that has always walked its talk, China is working toward the climate goal with a Herculean effort backed by meticulous planning. In the IEA Bioenergy TCP Workshop, QIBEBT has unveiled the deployment and implementation of renewable bioenergy in China, demonstrated the country’s determination and achievement in reducing carbon emissions, and contributed Chinese wisdom and strength to world development and human progress.
