On November 12th, 2017, Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT) held the exchange activity “Approaching Qingdao” for foreign students in Mountain Lao. The activity was organized by QIBEBT Graduate Student Union. More than 20 foreign students and their family members from Germany, the Czech Republic, Pakistan, India, Iran and other countries, and the representives of Graduate Student Union participated in the event.  

They visited Tai-qing Temple of Mountain Lao, which was the most famous mountain on the sea. While enjoying the beautiful scenery of late autumn, they had the further understanding of traditional Chinese culture through the interpretation of an English-speaking tour guide. The foreign students talked about their life and research progress in QIBEBT with each other. This activity not only promoted the communication between foreign students, but also enhanced the friendship between foreign and Chinese students.

Almost 28 foreign students from 12 countries are now studying in QIBEBT. The cross-cultural exchange activities could make them learn more about Qingdao and China, experience the profundity of Chinese traditional culture and history, and incorporate in the institution for scientific research and development quickly. These overseas students are expected to be the best ambassadors for sino-foreign exchange and cooperation in future.
