A German delegation, led by Otmar WIESTLER, President of the Helmholtz Association, visited the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on Oct 17. The Deputy Director General of QIBEBT, PENG Hui, joined the meeting and delivered a welcome message. 

The key R&D achievements of QIBEBT in last decade were introduced by XIN Hongchuan, the Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department of QIBEBT. Otmar WIESTLER talked about the research mission & strategy, organizations, and future challenges of Helmholtz. Karl-Friedrich ZIEGAHN, the Board of Directors of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), gave a presentation titled "Bio-Energy at Helmholtz and KIT". Both guests emphasized the collaborative possibilities in the fields of biomass and renewable energies, and expected to exchange ideas and sciences with QIBEBT, in order to find more potential to cooperate in the near future. 

The delegation members were then invited to visit the QIBEBT Exhibition Hall to learn more about the institute's strategy and layout, important research advances and talent management, etc.  

Both PENG Hui and Otmar WIESTLER believed QIBEBT and Helmholtz may find common interests and initiate cooperation based on further exchanges.
