QIBEBT’s Biogas Project Passes Acceptance
The acceptance check for the key project Industrialization System for Corn Straw-based Biogas Production was held at the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT) on Feb 3.
The review team, led by Prof. REN Nanqi, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, carefully evaluated the final report and visited the demonstration site. The team fully affirmed the innovation and practicality of the industrialization technologies, which may contribute a lot to China's independent R&D of biomethane production technology from wasted agricultural biomass.
This project was undertaken by Prof. GUO Rongbo’s research group. The group made breakthroughs in several key issues during the anaerobic fermentation process such as surface crusting and microbial acclimation, designed a series of patented devices, and developed an industrialization demonstration project for corn straw-based biogas production with a capacity of 3 million Nm3/year.
The successful demonstration of the biogas project at QIBEBT may bring appreciable economic benefits, environmental benefits and social benefits in the near future.
