A Technological Achievements Transformation Forum was held at Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences on September 8. A lecture titled “After Invention, How to Improve the Possibility of Successful Transformation” was given by Mr. ZONG Gang, CEO of Sinoipro IP Management and Technology Transfer Co., Ltd. The forum was hosted by PENG Hui, Deputy Director General of QIBEBT. YAN Ranli (Deputy Director of Qingdao Municipal Intellectual Property Office), LIU Jiayong (Deputy Director of Laoshan District Science and Technology Bureau), and about 100 employees and students of QIBEBT attended this forum. 

The purpose of this forum is to disseminate the advanced idea of technological achievements transformation, improve the recognition of the value of intellectual property, accelerate the commercialization process of patents, and to prompt the implementation of the intellectual property strategy of QIBEBT. Mr. ZONG elaborated the advanced idea of technological achievements transformation by talking about the required human resources, mechanism, model and globalization concept of the idea, and discussed the national and international status of the idea. He also introduced the advanced model and the practice of operation of this idea, and expatiated the key role of the ability of managing and utilizing intellectual property played for technological achievements’ commercialization. In the end, he provided some methods of how to improve the quality of patents and how to create values for QIBEBT and inventors by utilizing and transforming patents. 

After the forum, the attendees of the forum communicated with each other and further consulted Mr. ZONG for more questions. In the next, by absorbing the advanced ideas and experiences of this forum, QIBEBT will formulate policies to promote the rapid transformation of technological achievements and encourage researchers to innovate and to start businesses.
