Lectures from Prof. Volker Müller on QIBEBT International Expert Forum
Recently, Prof. Volker MüLLER from Department of Molecular Microbiology and Bioenergetics at Goethe University Frankfurt (Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main), Germany was invited to attend “International Expert Forum” hosted by Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Prof. MüLLER gave a lecture titled “Acetogenic Bacteria: From Ancient Metabolism to 3rd Generation Biofuels” on August 31. He mainly introduced how Acetogenic bacteria use H2 and CO2 to survive and the details of the metabolism pathway. The talk gave important guidance for biofuel production by acetogenic bacteria. The lecture was hosted by Prof. LI Fuli, Group Leader of Microbial Resource Group of QIBEBT.
The second lecture named “Novel Mechanisms of Energy Coupling and Energy Conservation in Anaerobic Prokaryotes” was given on September 2 by Prof. MüLLER, who introduced the mechanisms of energy coupling and energy conservation in anaerobic prokaryotes in details.
During his stay at QIBEBT, Prof. MüLLER also exchanged his experience with research groups in the Bioenergy Division of QIBEBT, which laid good foundation for potential collaboration between Goethe University Frankfurt and QIBEBT in near future.
“International Expert Forum” was launched by QIBEBT from 2013 with the aim to strengthen the academic communication with well-known international scientists and improve the research and innovation expertise via international cooperation.
