Experts from Thailand's Ministry of Energy and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi Visit QIBEBT
Eight experts from Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), Thailand's Ministry of Energy and the Joint Graduate School for Energy and Environment, King Mongkut University Technology Thonburi (JGSEE, KMUTT) visited Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences on July 31. The meeting was hosted by Dr. XIN Hongchuan, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Department of QIBEBT.
Yongyuth SAWATDISAWANEE (Director of Biofuel Development Bureau, DEDE) and Dr. Boonrod SAJJAKULNUKIT (Renewable Energy Expert from JGSEE, KMUTT) both briefly explained the purpose of the visit. XIN Hongchuan gave a presentation on the general information of QIBEBT. The guests were very interested in the successful experiences on the establishment of QIBEBT. Then the project leaders from Microalgae Biotechnology Group, Microbial Resources Group and Enzyme Engineering Group at QIBEBT introduced the research interests and advances of their groups, respectively. The experts from Thailand also visit the Sing-Cell Center and the Open Measurement Center. The experts highly appreciated the achievements in scientific research at QIBEBT.
Boonrod SAJJAKULNUKIT introduced the Thailand policies on renewable and alternative energy, and Yongyuth SAWATDISAWANEE confirmed DEDE is now planning to set up a Center of Excellence on Biofuels at a national level in Thailand. Prof. ZHENG Yonghong, Assistant Director General and Director of Science and Technology Department of QIBEBT, demonstrated the China's "One Belt And One Road" Strategy and related energy policies, and believed the collaboration between Thailand and China will be supported by the two governments. Both sides finally reached a preliminary consensus on academic exchanges and student exchanges in the near future.
