Dr. Zhongping TAN from Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and BioFrontiers Institute at University of Colorado was invited to visit Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences on June 16. A lecture named “Quantitatively Studying the Effects of Cellulase Glycosylation” was given, which mainly summarized the research progresses in the chemical glycobiology for cellulose glycosylation and its potential application. The lecture also detailed how the chemical glycobiology was employed as a useful tool to determine the effects of protein glycosylation and the molecular mechanisms of these effects. The lecture was hosted by Prof. CUI Qiu, the group leader of Metabolomics Group of QIBEBT. 

During his stay in QIBEBT, Dr. TAN visited the Metabolomics Group and Microbial Resources Group of QIBEBT, and exchanged viewpoints with the researchers and students in the fields of cellulase functional reconstruction. These communications laid a good foundation for further collaboration between University of Colorado and QIBEBT.
