Dr. Huaiyu SHAO from International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (WPI-I²CNER) at Kyushu University was invited to visit Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on June 25. A lecture named “Application of Nano- and Catalysis Technology in Studying Magnesium-based Hydrogen Storage Materials” was given, which mainly summerized the research progresses in the synthesis of novel nanostructured Mg-based materials for hydrogen storage. The lecture also covered the kinetics and thermodynamics of nanostructured Mg-based hydrogen storage materials, and the relationship between hydrogen storage property and material geometric structures. Dr. SHAO also gave a brief introduction to the objectives and research areas of WPI-I²CNER. The lecture was hosted by Prof. MU Xindong, Deputy Director of CAS Key Laboratory of Biobased Materials and Director of Technology Transfer Department of QIBEBT. 

During his stay in QIBEBT, Dr. SHAO visited the Green Chemical Engineering Center of QIBEBT, and exchanged viewpoints with the researchers and students in the fields of catalysis and clean energy. These communications laid a good foundation for the further collaboration between Kyushu University and QIBEBT.
