Associate Prof. NG How Yong from National University of Singapore (NUS) and Prof. BI Xuejun from Qingdao Technological University (QTU) visited Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences on May 27. A lecture named “Research Activities in the Centre for Water Research at the National University of Singapore – Development of Technologies for Water Reuse and Energy Recovery” was given by Dr. NG. The meeting was hosted by Prof. ZHENG Yonghong, Assistant Director General and Director of Science and Technology Department of QIBEBT. 

During the stay in QIBEBT, Dr. NG and Prof. BI exchanged their experiences with researchers in water treatment and membrane separation. The topics also included microbial fuel cell and biofuel from Algae. Scientists in Membrane Separation & Catalysis Group and Waste Valorization & Water Reuse Group of QIBEBT joined the meeting. Prof. LU Xuefeng, Deputy Director General of QIBEBT, also attended the discussion. 

Dr. NG is the Director of the Centre for Water Research in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NUS. His current research focus is on biological processes, membrane bioreactor, forward osmosis and microbial fuel cell for water reuse and energy recovery. Prof. BI is the Director of Qingdao Key Laboratory of New Environmental Technology, School of Environmental and Municipal Engineering, QTU.
