AIT and QIIC Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Low Carbon Energy Demonstration

The Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH (AIT) and the Qingdao Innovation and Incubation Centre for Industry Technologies of Chinese Academy of Sciences (QIIC-CAS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate closely in their low carbon energy initiatives, on 30 September 2013.

The AIT and QIIC are desirous of collaborating with each other in accordance with their respective needs and objectives. By joint agreement, the MoU determine the areas and subject of such collaboration include the following collaborative activities: Scientific support for demonstration projects of “low carbon energy technology, energy efficiency buildings and sustainable urban development” in Qingdao; joint application and conduction of the bilateral, domestic and international research project; and exchange of research staff and students.

Currently, AIT has expertise and experience in the field of energy for the built environment and energy for the electric infrastructure. The AIT develops and uses sophisticated measurement technology and innovative simulation tools to combine decentralised energy producers, efficient distribution networks and smart buildings with efficient heating and cooling technologies to form a single, sustainable energy system.

QIIC of CAS is a comprehensive technology service and supporting organization jointly established by Chinese Academy of Sciences and Qingdao Municipal Government to further reinforce technology related co-operations for local regions. The QIIC also intends to develop the Applied Energy and Energy Efficient Center which is to act as a solution platform for distributed energy application in urban area.
