First Steering Committee Meeting for the Joint Research Laboratory for Sustainable Aviation Biofuels
The 1st Steering Committee Meeting for the Joint Research Laboratory for Sustainable Aviation Biofuels (JRLSAB) held in Qingdao on May 24. The
JRLSAB was jointly established by the Boeing Company and the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT) on May 26, 2011.
On the Steering Committee meeting, the JRLSAB's director LU Xuefeng, Boeing's technical representative Joe Yin, and project PIs presented the projects progresses, lab operation and financial status. The committee discussed the budget for second fiscal year, and then paid a visit to QIBEBT’s pilot and demo base in Pingdu.
The Steering Committee highly evaluated the lab operation and research progress, and reached consensus on the financial report for next fiscal year. The committee also proposed that both will further invest on the pilot-scale facility for microalgae mass cultivation.
The Steering Committee organizations and representatives attended the meeting: the QIBEBT's director general WANG Lisheng, deputy director general ZHAO Xichao and PENG Hui; the Boeing Company's vice president and general manager of Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Matt Ganz, vice president of environment strategy Bill Glover, vice president of BR&T-China Al Bryant; the Bureau of High-Tech Research and Development of Chinese Academy of Sciences deputy director LIU Guiju's representative ZHAO Huibin.
