First Counsellor of German Embassy in China Visits to QIBEBT

On 3rd November, Dr. Matthias Hack, the First Counsellor (Science and Technology) of Embassy of Germany in China, and Dr. Baiyu Zhang, the Scientific Assistant, pays a visit to Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences. Deputy Director General Xichao Zhao and Hui Peng attend the reception. The meeting is hosted by Dr. Xuefeng Lv, deputy director of Research and Development Department of QIBEBT, and some scientists interested attend the meeting.

After the introduction of the QIBEBT’s scientific and technologic program layout, research progress and international activities, Dr. Hack introduces the R&D in Germany as well as the history and current of Germany-China partnership in science and technology. A further discussion is focused on various platforms on which a series of R&D exchange and cooperation could be carried out between QIBEBT scientists and German counterparts. Afterwards, the guests have a tour around the Open Laboratory and at the campus.

During the year of “German-Chinese Year of Science and Education 2009/10, this visit will strengthen the mutual understanding and pave a way for tangible cooperation between Germany and China in the future.
