Boeing and QIBEBT to Launch Collaboration on Bio Jet Fuel R&D

October 28-29, 2009, Boeing delegation led by Boeing-China Research & Technology vice President Al Bryant visited the Institute and had a further discussion in the field of bio jet fuel with associated researchers. Deputy Director Xiaochao Zhao hosted the meeting.

Under the MOU framework signed on 21st this month between Boeing and Chinese Academy of Sciences, Boeing’s visit was to join hands with the QIBEBT on the research and development of renewable aviation biofuel. The guests expressed that the QIBEBT laid out key technologies along the research chain of algae based biofuel were very impressive and significant. Both parties agreed to 1) initiate some cooperation projects in microalgae biofuel area; and 2) step by step strengthen a more programmatic and strategic cooperation in additional areas of joint interests.

Working together under the framework of MOU will be significantly important and beneficial for both parties to shorten the R&D lifecycle of bio jet fuel and reduce production cost of mutual concern.
