Industrial Biogas Research Center (Group Cluster)
Introduction

Industrial Biogas Research Center possesses the leading domestic biogas and fertilizer research platform for biomass waste and has strong capabilities on investigation, promotion and application of anaerobic and aerobic fermentation for waste treatment. In the past five years, the center has undertaken more than 50 projects, such as the key project of the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements of the Chinese academy of sciences, the strategic pilot project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (category A), National Science and Technology support, 863, Natural Science Foundation, as well as provincial and municipal science and technology research projects. The Chinese group has an experimental area of 400 square meters and over 10 million RMB of various instruments, including more than 20 sets of related instruments and equipment for anaerobic and aerobic fermentation tanks, automatic methane potential test system (AMPTS), as well as complete equipment for analysis of fermentation process, microbial culture screening and molecular characterization. A series of achievements have been made in the field of anaerobic and aerobic fermentation technology and a number of typical industrial pilot-scale biogas projects were built. A pilot system with an annual output of 180,000 cubic meters biogas from agricultural biomass is equipped for the industrialization pilot demonstration base in Qingdao. In Baicheng city of Jilin province, the industrialization pilot project of low-energy biogas system with annual output of 430,000 cubic meters biogas was established. The center can provide professional technologies for biogas industry with the sound lab-pilot-industrial research and promotion platform.

Prof. GUO Rongbo
Professor GUO Rongbo is the head of Industrial Biogas Research Center. In 2001, he studied as a visiting scholar at the Institute of Ecological Chemistry, German Research Centre for Environment and Health. He got his Ph.D. degree from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS in 2003. From 2005 to 2007, he studied in German Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology as a Max Planck scholarship holder. Currently, he is also the director of Shandong Province Industrial Biogas Production and Utilization Engineering Laboratory, as well as the young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions for Shandong province. Prof. Guo is interested in anaerobic digestion of solid biomass materials for biogas production. He published more than 100 papers and 39 patents, among which there are approximately 50 top SCI articles in Journals such as Energy & Environmental Science, Water Research, Chemical Engineering Journal and Applied Energy, etc.
