Prof. Krister Holmberg Speaks on QIBEBT Distinguished Expert Forum

On October 23, Prof. Krister Holmberg attended the “International Distinguished Experts Forum 2018”. Professor Holmberg worked in the Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. He is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (Nobel Prize awarding academy), the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, the Royal Society of Arts and Sciences in Gothenburg, and the Committee member of Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Professor Holmberg was President of the International Association of Colloid and Surface Science (1996-1998) and the Chairman of the Swedish Chemical Society (1999-2005). He has published 310 papers in refereed journals and written or edited 7 books. Dr. Holmberg is also the inventor or co-inventor of 37 patents or patent applications. Dr. Holmberg’s research interest covers surfactant chemistry, reactions in microemulsions and other microheterogeneous media, encapsulation technology, nanomaterials and biotechnological surface chemistry.

The deputy director LU Xuefeng in QIBEBT hosted this lecture, and awarded the honorary medal of “International Distinguished Experts Forum” to Professor Holmberg.

Professor Holmberg's academic report is divided into two parts "Part 1: Control of phase behavior in polymer assisted surfactant flooding, Part 2: A short talk about the 2018 Noble Prize in Chemistry". In the report, Professor Holmberg started from the classic formula of capillary force, briefly introduced the role of surfactants in the formation of microemulsion three-phase system of petroleum, combined with the research work and theoretical basis of the research group in recent years, A complete set of principles for the design principles and methods of use of surfactants for oil displacement. At the same time, according to the characteristics of Daqing Oilfield, the surfactant formulation and operation method for effectively improving oil recovery are reported.

In the second part of the report, Professor Holmberg gave a brief introduction to the principles and requirements of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. After the report, the researchers and students of the conference conducted in-depth exchanges on specific issues, and further exchanged with the researcher LU Xuefeng, deputy director of the institute, and the director CHEN Xiao of the Intellectual Property and Achievement Transformation Office.
