Prof. Ikuro Abe Gave a lecture in QIBEBT
On June 22, Prof. Ikuro Abe, a distinguished expert in the field of Biosynthesis of Natural Products from the University of Tokyo, was invited to the “2018 Academic Lectures on Synthetic Biology” of the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences. Prof. Ikuro Abe delivered a lecture entitled “Engineered Biosynthesis of Medicinal Natural Products”. This presentation introduced the structure-function studies of some unique oxygenases which were revealed in the research of fungal meroterpenoid biosynthesis, such as FAD-dependent monooxygenases, cytochrome P450 monooxygenases, and non-heme iron-dependent dioxygenases. He also shared his research experiences and gave valuable advice with young scientists of QIBEBT.
Prof. LI Shengying, the group leader of Enzyme Engineering Group of QIBEBT, as well as the director of Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Synthetic Biology, hosted this lecture. This visit is expected to facilitate potential collaborations between University of Tokyo and QIBEBT.
