Vice Prof. SHIEH Fa-Kuen from National Central University Visited QIBEBT and Delivered a Lecture
On August 27, 2017, Vice Prof. SHIEH Fa-Kuen from National Central University of Tai Wan visited Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) and delivered a lecture.
Vice Prof. SHIEH was the leader of Bionano Lab, department of chemistry, National Central University, whose group mainly focused on enzyme catalysis, rapid & green synthesizing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and synthesis and application of enzyme MOFs composite. In academic contribution, his group firstly synthesized zirconium MOFs at green and rapid conditions via “de novo approach” and constructed high-performance MOFs encapsulated enzyme composite to show bright industry applications. The related work had been highlighted by the vice editor of JACs recently.
Vice Prof. gave a lecture entitled “From Imparting Functionality to Shielding Against Unfolding via Embedding Enzymes into Metal-organic Frameworks: the insight of material biology”. In his speech, He systematically introduced the newest research results into the audiences in the viewpoint of how to find the scientific problems, and how to solve the problems with vivid words, rigorous logic and great passion. At this period, he also shared his opinions on creative ideas with the audiences based on his studying and research experiences. Prof. YANG Renqiang, the leader of advance organic functional materials and devices group hosted the lecture.
During his stay in QIBEBT, Vice Prof. SHIEH also visited the lab of advanced organic photoelectric materials and devices, biobased materials division. This visit was expected to have positive effects on stimulating creative scientific ideas for the researchers and students and promoted subsequent cooperation between the two academic organizations.
