The 2nd Academic Committee Meeting of Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Synthetic Biology was held at Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology(QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on July 20, 2017.

This Academic Committee was headed by the CAS academician Professor ZHAO Guoping. Nine out of fifteen committee members attended the meeting. The Deputy-Director of QIBEBT, Professor PENG Hui delivered the opening remarks. He affirmed the significant contribution of this laboratory made to the overall development of QIBEBT. He also promised that the institute would continuously provide the strongest supports to this laboratory. Under the supervision of the Academic Committee, he expected that this laboratory can make greater achievements and grow to be the state-level key laboratory in future. The Director of this key laboratory, Professor LI Shengying introduced the orientation, personnel, achievements, and developmental strategies and objectives of this laboratory. Four representative research group leaders introduced their research work and the future plan.

At the end of the meeting, all committee members reached a consensus. Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Synthetic Biology had made a number of significant achievements in both academic research and application research. With the endeavor of all laboratory members, this laboratory will grow successful, break through scientific challenges in the field of synthetic biology, and enter a new development level.
