QIBEBT and VITO Sign MOU for Cooperation

Dirk FRANSAER, managing director of Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO), together with Dr. Debin MAO, chief representative of VITO in China paid a visit to Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Science on Mar 15. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) related to environment and renewable energy collaborative research was signed between QIBEBT and VITO. 

LU Xuefeng, deputy director general of QIBEBT, hosted the meeting. XIN Hongchuan, deputy director of science and technology department, gave a brief introduction on QIBEBT. Dirk FRANSAER also made a short introduction on VITO and gave a presentation named “CO2 capture – game changer climate change”. 

Under this MOU, both parties agree on collaboration to promote research in the areas including sustainable energy, new materials and environment treatment, etc. The cooperation will be carried out through joint application of EU-China and Flanders-China bilateral projects, co-publication of papers and staff exchange, and establishing joint research platform in abovementioned areas . 

VITO is a leading European independent research and technology organization in the areas of clean technology and sustainable development. 

This visit is expected to facilitate further collaborations between VITO and QIBEBT.
