A Korea Nanomaterials Scientist Speaks at QIBEBT
Prof. Ryong RYOO was invited to talk at the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences on Nov 25. Prof. LIANG Xiangfeng, the director of Science and Technology Department of QIBEBT, hosted this lecture and delivered a welcome message.
Prof. RYOO gave a talk entitled “Zeolite-templated 3D Graphene-like Ordered Microporous Carbons”. In his lecture, he introduced the delicate synthesis strategy for 3D graphene-like ordered microporous carbons and their superior performance in electrical conductivity, which might be very useful in batteries or catalysts. This pioneering work has been recently published on Nature. After the talk, the researchers from the Membrane Separation & Catalysis Group, the Energy Catalytic Materials Group, the Advanced Carbon for Renewable Energy Group, the Heterogeneous Catalytic Conversion Group, and the Thermo-chemical Conversion Group of QIBEBT joined the discussion.
Prof. Ryong RYOO is currently the director of the Centre for Nanomaterials and Chemical Reactions at Institute of Basic Science (IBS) and the Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He is an expert in the fields of synthesis and characterization of functional nanoporous materials (zeolite, silica, carbon, polymer), heterogeneous catalysis, green chemistry, C1 chemistry, electrochemistry, and photocatalysis.
Prof. RYOO’s visit is expected to facilitate potential collaborations between IBS/KAIST and QIBEBT.
