A Taiwan delegation from the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), led by Ren-Chain (Joseph) WANG, the Deputy General Director of the Green Energy and Environment Research Laboratories of ITRI, visited the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on Aug 22. LI Fangfang, the Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office of the CAS, planned and joined this visit. 

The meeting was hosted by PENG Hui, the Deputy Director General of QIBEBT, who introduced the history and achievements of QIBEBT, and Ren-Chain (Joseph) WANG gave an introduction on the strategy and orientation of ITRI and the Green Energy and Environment Research Laboratories. WU Jinhu, the Director of the Thermo-chemical Conversion Center of QIBEBT, summarized the pilot-scale process of biomass thermal-chemical conversion. LIU Tianzhong, the Director of the Microalgae Biotechnology Center of QIBEBT, demonstrated the advanced mass cultivation technology and high-valued utilization of microalgae. Steven Hou-Peng WAN, the Principal Researcher and Division Director of the New Energy Technology Division at the Green Energy and Environment Research Laboratories of ITRI, gave two presentations on the progress in thermal-chemical conversion and microalgae cultivation and application, respectively. The different ideas on similar research topics brought the scientists on two sides into warm discussion. Jason Chang, the Senior Administrator of the Office of Cross-Strait Exchange at ITRI, also attended the meeting. 

LI Fangfang concluded the talks and expected fruitful cooperation between the Green Energy and Environment Research Laboratories and QIBEBT, under the collaborative framework between ITRI and CAS since 2011.
