The Integration of Sustainable Energy Conference 2016 (iSEnEC 2016) was held on Jul 11-12 in Nuremberg, Bavaria. The conference aims to provide a forum for an interdisciplinary exchange between industry and science in the energy field. Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), is the organizer of iSEnEC 2016 at China end. A speech titled "Conversion of natural oil and fast to fuels and fine chemicals" was delivered by Prof. LI Xuebing, the leader of the Heterogeneous Catalytic Conversion Group at QIBEBT, based on the key research progress of QIBEBT. The talk received an enthusiastic response. 

LI Xuebing also took part in the Regional Leaders Summit (RLS)-Sciences Internal Meeting in Nuremberg, Bavaria on Jul 13 and the presentation of RLS-Sciences multilateral research projects in the RLS Conference in Munich on Jul 15. The RLS is a forum comprising 7 regional governments: Bavaria (Germany), Georgia (USA), Québec (Canada), S？o Paulo (Brazil), Shandong (China), Upper Austria (Austria), and Western Cape (South Africa). Within the framework of RLS, RLS-Sciences seeks to leverage the unique composition and strengths of the RLS network to support scientific research within and between the RLS regions. It works to generate and support academic, scientific, and technological exchanges, as well as the initiation of multilateral research projects. 

Since QIBEBT was jointly established by CAS, Shandong and Qingdao in 2006, QIBEBT's active participation in iSEnEC 2016 and RLS would provide important opportunities to further the R&D cooperation within the framework of RLS.
