A German Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology Professor Speaks on QIBEBT International Expert Forum
Prof. Alexander Steinbüchel, a distinguished scientist in the field of applied microbiology and biotechnology from the University of Münster, was invited to the “International Expert Forum” where he spoke about “Cyanophycin: A Neglected Biopolymer”.
The host of the forum was the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT) and the host of the lecture was Dr. LUO Quan, an associate professor of Microbial Metabolic Engineering Group of QIBEBT on Dec 7. Prof. Steinbüchel presented most of the results achieved by his group in recent years. The natural origin, structural & physical properties, metabolism as well as possible applications of cyanophycin were mentioned. The talk gave an important overview on the study of cyanophycin.
In addition, Prof. Steinbüchel visited the pilot plant and Microbial Metabolic Engineering Group, and had a close academic communication with researchers from QIBEBT. This visit laid good foundation for potential collaboration between University of Münster and QIBEBT.
