The second Academic Committee meeting of CAS Key Laboratory of Bio-based Materials (CASKLBM) was held at Beijing on September 13. 

The Academic Committee of CASKLBM is headed by Prof. TAN Tianwei (CAS academician, Beijing University of Chemical Technology). Twelve out of fifteen committee members attended the meeting. At first, Prof. PENG Hui, Deputy Director General of Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), delivered an opening remarks. He affirmed the laboratory made a number of achievements in both academic and application research under the framework of QIBEBT. Under the supervision of the Academic Committee, he expected that this laboratory can make greater achievements and grow to be the state-level key laboratory in the near future. Secondly, Prof. XIAN Mo, Director of CASKLBM, introduced the history, achievements, technology transfer, and developmental strategies of this laboratory. Thirdly, the leaders of three research centers within CASKLBM introduced their research progress, projects and funding situations. 

All committee members reached a consensus: CASKLBM has made some significant achievements in both academic research and technology transfer in 2014. We definitely believe that with the efforts of all laboratory members, CASKLBM will break through more scientific challenges in the fields of bio-based materials.
