Prof. Richard B. RIVKIN from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) was invited to attend “International Expert Forum” hosted by Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences on June 11. A lecture titled “Patterns of Microzooplankton Grazing in Contrasting Biogeochemical Provinces of the Temperate and Sub-tropical Atlantic Ocean” was given, which mainly introduced the effects of microzooplankton on predation of different-size picoplankton, carbon cycle and energy flow in marine ecosystem. The forum was chaired by Prof. XU Jian, Director of the Academic Board and Director of the Bioenergy Directorate of QIBEBT. 

The visit of Prof. RIVKIN laid a good foundation for cooperation between QIBEBT and MUN. Both sides reached a consensus in the future research collaboration on marine carbon sequestration and single cell analysis. 

“International Expert Forum” was launched by QIBEBT from 2013 with the aim to strengthen the academic communication with well-known international scientists and improve the research and innovation expertise via international cooperation.
