Professor James Clark visited QIBEBT

Professor James Clark, the personal chair of University of York, and director of the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence and of the scale-up laboratory the Biorenewables Development Centre was invited to attend the 2nd International Conference on Clean Energy science (ICCES2) held by QIBEBT, and to attend QIBEBT International Expert Forum, on April 11th.

On the QIBEBT International Expert Forum, Prof. Clark gave an invited lecture entitled “Green Chemistry and the Biorefinery”.  He introduced the research progress of his center on green chemistry and with special emphasis on waste utilization. The most interesting of the large volume wastes is bio-wastes including forestry and agricultural by-products, and food supply chain wastage. To fully exploit the concept and make it widely maintaining environmental advantage, chemistry should go green.

During his stay in QIBEBT, Prof. Clark visited the Green Chemical Engineering Center (GCEC), and exchanged views with the researchers on the future of green chemistry, biobased materials and biorefinery. These activities laid the foundation for the further cooperation.
