Opening Ceremony

finance organizations gathered in Qingdao from May 24 to 27 for the largest annual event on industrial biotechnology development in China.

 

The Theme of the Forum is Innovative Industrial Biotechnology for Sustainable Bio-economy Development. This Forum focused on biotechnology industrialization to promote the globalization of Bioindustry Innovation Alliance. Through the Forum, the interaction and integration among each innovative unit including policy, industry, education, research and finance had been realized, which is significant to promote the R&D collaboration and technology transfer between China-US, China-Europe and China-Japan.

During the Summit Forum, there were 6 academic sessions including (1) Energy Biotechnology, (2) Synthetic Biotechnology & Biomimetic Technology, (3) Resources Biotechnology, (4) Chemical Engineering Biotechnology, (5) Marine Biotechnology and (6) Environmental Biotechnology; and 2 parallel sessions: Biotechnology Industry Session and China-Japan Biotechnology Session.
Vice president of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) LI Jiayang, vice mayor of Qingdao municipal government QIN Min, consultant of Japan Science and Technology Agency Okimura Kazuki, director general of Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology WANG Lisheng delivered addresses during the opening ceremony, which is moderated by ZHANG Zhibin, director of the Bureau of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, CAS.

CAS Academician KUANG Tingyun, Academician REN Nanqi, executive director of Japan Bioindustry Association Yoshiaki Tsukamoto, and director of DSM-Biotechnology Center China Reinhard Karge presented keynote addresses on bioenergy development, bioremediation, biotechnology cooperation in Asia, and global solutions for sustainability on biotechnology, respectively, after the opening ceremony.

This Forum was hosted by Bureau of Life Sciences and Biotechnology of CAS, China National Center for Biotechnology Development of Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of High-Tech Industry of National Development and Reform Commission, and Chinese Society of Biotechnology; organized by Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology of CAS, Qingdao Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Exhibition Industry Development Office of Qingdao Municipal Government, and Shandong Technology Transfer Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences; supported by Qingdao Municipal Government and Bureau of International Cooperation of CAS. Over 300 representatives from organizations like CAS institutes, universities, the Boeing Company, Royal Dutch Shell Group, TOTAL, DSM, Novozyme, CNOOC, COFCO, KDN Biotech Group attended the Forum.
