Speaker: Professor Hans H. Richnow, Department Isotope Biogeochemistry, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research
    Time & Date: 14:30-, Oct.29, 2013, Tuesday
Title 1: Stable isotope fingerprinting of biogas for the assessment of methanogenesis in anaerobic digesters
Abstract: This is a presentation describing the use of stable isotopes for characterising methanogenesis and can be extended to characterization of methanogenesis in oil reservoirs if needed.
Title 2: ProVIS – your partner for visualization of microbial-mediated biochemical processes
Abstract: This is a presentation describing the new platform for correlative microscopy we are setting up in Leipzig and give an overview on work of my Department.
    Speaker's CV:

Current Head of the Department Isotope Biogeochemistry
1998 Habilitation in Biogeochemistry (Institute of Biogeochemistry and Marine Chemistry) at the University of Hamburg
1991 Ph.D. in Organic Geochemistry (Institute of Biogeochemistry and Marine Chemistry)
1986 Diploma in Geology (GPI, Faculty of Geoscience)

The research of the department of Isotope Biogeochemistry focuses on the application of stable isotope techniques to characterise the biogenic transformation of organic chemicals in soils and aquifers and to anaerobic biodegradation of organic contaminants.
