    QIBEBT Present Biofuel Technologies on 2nd International Science Forum of Scientific Organizations on the Belt and Road Initiative

    On November 4th, professor Keng Huat Chung of Heterogeneous Catalysis Conversion Group was invited to deliver a lecture, on behalf of QIBEBT, at the First General Assembly of the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) in the Belt and Road Region & the Second International Science Forum of Scientific Organizations on the Belt and Road Initiative.

    Professor Chung demonstrated QIBEBT’s advanced technologies and pilot projects of biodiesel and aviation biofuels from waste oil, and high-valued chemicals from palm waste. Through the introduction to the advantages of local biomass resources and new policy to increase the renewable energy consumption represented by Malaysia, he reviewed and prospected the cooperation between QIBEBT and the “One Belt, One Road” countries.

    During the Forum, QIBEBT also attended the Innovation Exhibition for Chinese Academy of Sciences in the Belt and Road. The exhibit model, Biogas Production and Utilization System, received high attention from representatives of Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Ethiopia and ect.

    Scientific and technological cooperation is an important part of the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” and plays an active role in improving welfare, promoting development, and addressing with common challenges. Based on the existing active international cooperation, QIBEBT will deploy exchanges and cooperation in education and young scientists training, research cooperation, and technology commercialization with the “One Belt, One Road” countries.

    The forum will last to November 5th. It is hosted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and held in Beijing. General Secretary XI Jinping sent a congratulatory letter, and entrusted Vice Premier LIU He read and delivered a speech. BAI Chunli, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Alexander Sergeev, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and M. Qasim Jan, President of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, delivered speeches. A total of 700 representatives from UNESCO and more than 40 science and technology institutions along the Belt and Road counties were present.
